Products should be created through a Purchase Order or Mass product upload.
If you use the Retail Express Duplicate product it will create unintended results.
If you do this properly it will allow you to set all of the correct attributes BEFORE you mark for export . Duplicating a live connected product will mean it will immediately try to create the product in Woo with all the wrong attributes including Manufacturer SKU, Category, price etc.
