Creating the Gift Voucher Product

Creating the voucher product in Retail Express

Before vouchers can be sold online, each voucher value needs a matching product set up in Retail Express first. Creating it is much the same as any normal product, with these differences:

1. Cost and price: Set both to the voucher value (e.g. $50 voucher, $50 price). Retail Express creates the voucher at the value it was sold for.
2. Product is a Voucher: Under Advanced Options, tick “Product is a Voucher”. This automatically ticks “Prevent Disabling”.
3. Manufacturer SKU: Set it to the same value for all the options so you have a "Variable" product or leave empty if you want each value seperate.
4. Export to Web: Tick this so the voucher product is created in your online store. A Source Group still needs to be assigned.
5. One product per value: You only need one voucher product for each denomination (one for $25, one for $50, and so on).

Once these are set up, you can sell vouchers online. Retail Express will create the voucher codes and return the details to your store automatically.
