BigCommerce does not allow 2 products to have the same description.
BigCommerce is the only system that requires the name to be unique but it has been that way for a long time and is unlikely to change. They recommend adding the SKU to the name this way if someone has a particular model or brand they don't have to search through multiple identical items.
Can you include more information in the title through a mass download / upload? Anything would do the job but you could use the Manufacturer SKU.
BigCommerce believes this is the best idea so you can …. Click the search and the brand and model is right there in the item name. Makes it easier for the customer to find what they are looking for than scrolling through hundreds (or thousands) of the same item names.
